My fascination with the face and the psychology of the mind continues. All the experiences of life have led me to this place: years of working with children who have learning problems and trying to find out how the mind processes information; a Ph.D. dealing with language and learning disorders based on the work of Johnson and Mykelbust (a neurologically based approach to diagnosing and designing an educational program for children having difficulties with information processing); and then there are all the books I read that deal with dual identities (the work of the Turkish author Orhan Pamuk for one). And then there is just life--looking at people, watching how people engage in their lives, and wondering what lies within. This painting would make an interesting accompaniment for Ancestors. Both not only allude to those who have preceded us in life, but also to the Native American concept of ancestral influence.
